1. Contract on Penny's Bay Reclamation (Stage 2) awarded Hong
Kong Government, 17 April 2003 The
Civil Engineering Department today (April 17) awarded a $1.005 billion works contract
to Gammon Skanska Limited for the Stage 2 reclamation at Penny's Bay. This
is the second reclamation contract providing land for the potential extension
of Hong Kong Disneyland in the future. The
latest contract includes the following main elements:- *
reclamation of about 60 hectares of land; *
construction of about 1,600 metres of permanent sloping seawall; *
construction of stormwater drainage system; *
installation and operation of public fill sorting facilities at Tseung Kwan O
Area 137 and Tuen Mun Area 38 to produce sorted public fill material for reclamation
works; * implementation
of environmental impact monitoring and mitigation measures Works
will commence on April 23 for substantial completion in stages up to 2008.
2. Draft Sha Tin Outline Zoning Plan amended Hong
Kong Government, 17 April 2003 The
Town Planning Board today (April 17) has announced amendments to the draft Sha
Tin Outline Zoning Plan (OZP). The
main amendments include the re-designation of the existing slip roads to the east
of Tolo Highway from "Government, Institution or Community" ("G/IC")
to "Road"; and inclusion of an area to be reclaimed on the western side
of Sha Tin Hoi (Tide Cove) in the Planning Scheme Area and designation of the
area to "Other Specified Uses" annotated "Waterfront Amenity Area"
("OU [Waterfront Amenity Area]") and "Road". Other
amendments involve adjustment of the zoning boundaries to match the boundary of
the proposed Tai Wai Maintenance Centre and incorporation of a new set of Notes
for the "OU (Waterfront Amenity Area)" zone. The
draft Sha Tin OZP No S/ST/18, incorporating the amendments, is now available for
public inspection during office hours at the following locations: (i)
Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, 15/F, North Point Government Offices,
333 Java Road; (ii)
Sha Tin, Tai Po and North District Planning Office, 13/F, Sha Tin Government Offices,
1 Sheung Wo Che Road; (iii)
Sha Tin District Office, 4/F, Sha Tin Government Offices; and (iv)
Sha Tin Rural Committee, 248 Pai Tau Village, Sha Tin. Any
person affected by the amendments can submit a written objection to the Secretary
of the Town Planning Board on or before May 9, 2003. Copies
of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in Yau
Ma Tei and North Point. Its electronic version is viewable from the Town Planning
Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
