1 Improvements to Tuen Mun Road Town Centre Section gazetted

The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (April 17) on improvements to Tuen Mun Road (TMR) Town Centre Section to meet anticipated traffic growth. The scheme had been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.

The works include widening of the Town Centre Section of TMR between Yan Oi Town Square and Wong Chu Road from dual two-lane to dual three-lane carriageway; construction of a single-lane flyover; installation of noise barriers and noise enclosures; reconstruction of four existing footbridges; improvement of three existing traffic light signal-controlled junctions along Castle Peak Road; and ancillary works involving geotechnical, drainage, landscaping and utility works, installation of traffic control and surveillance system as well as modification of directional signs.

The scheme will start at the end of this year for completion by the end of 2013.

2 Tenders invited for infrastructure works for Kai Tak Development

The Civil Engineering and Development Department today (April 17) invited tenders for infrastructure works for the Kai Tak Development.

The scope of the project "Kai Tak Development – Advance Infrastructure Works for Developments at the Southern Part of the Former Runway, Stage 1" comprises construction of roadworks, associated drainage, sewerage and water main works, and a fireboat berth and public landing steps at the former runway and south apron of Kai Tak Airport. 

The construction works are scheduled to begin in July for completion in 2013 to serve the early developments in the southern part of the former runway area - the first berth of the cruise terminal and the runway park.

The Civil Engineering and Development Department has commissioned Maunsell Consultants Asia Ltd to design and supervise the construction works. 

The invitation to tender was gazetted today and the closing time of the tender will be noon on May 29.
