1. Cyberport Wins "Intelligent Building of the Year" Award
Hong
Kong Government, 12 June 2004
The
following is issued on behalf of Hong Kong Cyberport Management
Company Limited:
Hong
Kong Cyberport has just received the internationally acclaimed Intelligent
Building of the Year Award 2004 from Intelligent Community Forum,
presented in New York City on 11 June 2004. The IT flagship of Hong
Kong is being praised, not just for its state-of-the-art IT infrastructure
and beautiful architecture, but more importantly the role model
that it sets for future IT-connected community.
Hong
Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (website: www.cyberport.com.hk),
the management company of Hong Kong's IT flagship owned by the Government
of the Hong Kong SAR, announced today (June 12) that the project
has won the "Intelligent Building of the Year" award at
the Intelligent Communities Conference and Awards 2004 (please see
www.intelligentcommunity.org)
held in New York City, USA on 11 June 2004. The award is given to
commercial buildings that have used broadband and information systems
technology to add demonstrable value in the form of advanced services
and merits to its tenants.
"I
am extremely pleased to see Cyberport winning this prestigious award",
said Mr Nicholas Yang, Chief Executive Officer. "New technologies
are vital tools in our society today to improve our productivity
and quality of life. We must not forget, however, that technologies
only facilitate the value creation and acceleration process."
Mr Yang said. "Cyberport is a platform which focuses on creating
value out of technologies. Its ideal tenants are in the content
creation and management business that would use Cyberport as the
delivery platform to grow their business - fast".
At
the award presentation ceremony, Mr Mark O. Clift, Director (Campus
& Project Management) who represented Cyberport said: "Hong
Kong Cyberport is a vision of the HKSAR Government to create the
IT-interconnected community of the future. Its grade A commercial
offices, interactive shopping centre, five-star hotel, and just
over 2,900 units of luxury apartments are linked together by an
internal fibre-optic network that integrates people, technology
and business."
"We
have a lot to offer at Cyberport. Apart from the 24/7 network operations
centre and the high-bandwidth fibre-optic network, we operate a
multi-million dollar Digital Media Centre for the creative digital
multimedia industry in Hong Kong. Cyberport also has a Wireless
Development Centre, a one-stop wireless applications development,
testing, and delivery platform that significantly reduces developers'
time-to-market.", said Mr Yang. He added that: "It is
apparent that no typical real estate development would invest into
value-added facilities like these. Cyberport is a project that Hong
Kong is proud of and we are thrilled to see that it is now being
internationally recognized."
